Vibrant handwoven baskets made from traditional Southwestern designs.This set is the perfect way to stock up your store, showcase, orcollection. This  lot of 12 baskets features a variety ofcolors and shapes including Canoe baskets and Bowl baskets. PuebloIndian symbols and images decorate the well made and tightly wovenbaskets. Coiled baskets are made like coiled pottery. Thin strips offibers, wood, leaves or grass are wrapped into a bundle which is coiledaround in a continuous spiral. Colored with natural dyes, it is a truegift of the Earth. These baskets range in size from 4" to 8". NonIndian made. Baskets of this quality made by an actual Apache, Navajo,or Pima would sell for thousands of dollars. Thankfully, we're able toprovide the same styles of basket at a mere fraction of the cost. Baskets were first made at least 9,000 years ago - longbefore pottery was invented. Woven from a variety of plant materials bythree basic techniques - plaiting, twining, and coiling - baskets hadmany uses. Flat trays were used for serving food and for winnowingseeds and parching them with hot coals. Deep baskets covered with resinwere made to carry water. Some were woven very tightly for cooking withhot stones. Others were used for storage or carrying burdens.
